How you need to find ways to manage boredom

There is a new series called Loki in Disney+. Spoiler Alert. It is about a bunch of bureaucrats in the organization TVA. Pen pushers created by powerful beings. You did not see any bureaucrats with the Kree or Skrulls. Even the pen pushers at S.H.I.E.LD carry firearms.

The office workers at TVA? Clipboards, pens and paperwork. But there is a little Easter egg that is a blink and you will miss it moment. At 6:47, a bureaucrat has a mini screen at the top left corner of the shot. Inside that screen is a familiar program. You may have even used it if you have been using Windows in the 90s.

It is a card game called Solitaire. It was a common time wasting program in the 90s for people who had Windows computers. Office workers were not honing their typing skills or their spreadsheet knowledge. They were playing cards. (Ok, they were actually honing their skills with a mouse.)

The head honchos in the TVA known as the Time Keepers are fully aware of this time wasting activity and they did nothing about it. Proof that if a job is mind numbing enough, making it soul crashing by removing distraction will not work. Now if I can convince my superiors to let me keep a kitten like the same office worker.
