They speak for the 1 percent. They then convince tens of millions that the 1 percent is "right". Or that they will always stand for the little guy while doing the exact opposite. ("Yes, not wearing masks and not getting vaccinated is really all about freedom from fear.")

The biggest lie is the belief that politicians (or dysfunctional parents) always know what is best for you.
