The truth is that most customer have no clue what they want.

They watch a movie like Fast and Furious and ask for a fast car.

You give them the fast car.

They watch Transformer and then tell you that you left out the robot inside.

If your original specs has included the robot in the car, the client would have reject you outright for padding in unnecesssary features.
