The Segway is a luxury item. And like some luxury items, they do come with hidden cost like some brands of sports car.

As the joke goes , the happiest days of some sports car owner is the day he gets the car and the day he sells it.

Unfortunately, the Segway is a tech device which means tech people will watching it closely. If Steve Job could not get away with telling Apple loyalist how to hold the iPhone, Segway was not going to get away with its flaws.

On a separate note, one problem with these mobility devices is speed. Nobody wants them if they are slow. But they are too fast, they are a menace to pedestrians. And there will be idiots who will want illegal modifications to make them faster.
