The sad part was that it was and is a good idea. The bad part was that anybody and their extended family could jump the bandwagon and then started dumping bicycles around the world. It was very annoying to go hiking and then see people dumped their bike in the forest. Or in a river. Or see sidewalks stacked with these bicycles. It was worse in China with their mountains of bicycles.
