Part of the reason is the changing workplace culture. I agree that the work place culture is changing. In the past, I could spend days training new hires. Now, it is just hours and the rest is just read the manuals or watch the videos.

Or the new hires are meant to google the answers.

New hires are (unless very attractive) usually left to sink or swim. Oh and learn to read between the lines.

Most bad jobs are like prison sentences. High turnover. People inside want to get out. And we all want to lie about happened in the prison.
