Math and science have formulas. Apply the correct formula, get the correct answer.

Humanities was about ideas. History is ideas (and failures) from the real world. Literature is ideas from fiction.

The issue is that nobody explained the importance of ideas from Humanities to the students in school. I also accept that I would not have been able to absorb the lessons if they were taught in a classroom setting.

From my lesson decades ago, War World I was started because an Austro-Hungarian leader was shot by a Yugoslavian guy. Nobody explained exactly about the powder keg of tension and distrust and miscommunication in Europe and the benefits of modern diplomacy.

So what final lesson did I learn from history in school? Make sure US (read overwhelming resource) is on your side before starting a world war. Missed all the part about negotiation. Might have slept through those sections.
