In courts, judges step in when the lawyers step out of line. The legal society disbar its own members. The statements are recorded so that other people can take up the argument in a different court.

I looked at the Reddit "Change my view". The arguments are more measured and objective compared to comments in all caps on social media.

Perhaps the issue is that we need a different platform for arguments. Or a way to identify bullies and trolls.
