I think GOP politicians see their districts the same way corrupt politicians in third world countries do. If a program can be cut, I will find ways to pocket the savings. If my progeny needs the program, I will find ways to carve a little safe or funded space for them. Otherwise, I will send them overseas.

I will give my family jobs in the government. Otherwise, I will divert resources to their businesses.

I think the local GOP politicians are now finding that the loophole in the scheme. The ship is sinking and they do not have a spot in the lifeboats.
