I doubt that we can read too much in to animal behavior. My neighbor's dog barks at me in the morning when I go to work (Pre Covid-19). It ignores me when I return from work.

Does it suffer from night blindness? Or that the dog has learnt not to bark at night so that the owners are not disturbed?

All my negative experiences with dogs are with the small ones. I hate to draw any conclusion from that fact.
